I remember what I felt when I first climbed to that terrace. It was 2014, the building was in ruins from the course of time, and reaching to the fifth floor was dangerous due to the steep staircase that many villagers knew. None of that remains today. Only a few details that we managed to keep are now visible on the walls of some rooms and on the facade, reminding us of the old hostel that used to exist a long time ago.
Walking through San Lorenzo de El Escorial is special; I like to walk when the streets are empty, it’s a pleasure that’s hard to explain. A walk through the “Lonja” at sunset presents the immense, majestic Monastery. It doesn’t matter if it’s cold, hot, windy, or snowy, each day is different, and every single time it takes your breath away. All that stone… it transmits such strength!
In San Lorenzo de El Escorial, we have many sunny days, those when Madrid’s sky is clear, without clouds, and only small mists can be seen painting the sunrise as a unique moment.
A client titled their review «Sunrise from Room 402»; others share photos, grateful, surprised, comforted… We created this hotel because it is quiet and special, but it must be experienced to really appreciate it’s charm.
Room 402 in simple, barely colourful, in white and tan tones, but it offers completely stunning views.
At the start of the day, the Monastery’s towers appear in a different hue, and having breakfast in the suite, enjoying the views while birds fly close by, completes the experience.

«…The suites on the fourth floor offer the most majestic view of the Escorial you can find in the city. You will fall asleep looking at the illuminated tops of the monastery and wake up seeing the pink light of dawn tinting the stone walls of the palace framed by the dark green mountains. Absolutely magical! You’ll just want to sit on the balcony with a glass of red wine, a piece of tortilla, and some cheese, soaking in the sun while peacefully contemplating the enchanting view. It feels like you’re floating above the Monastery…»
At the end of her stay, she thanked me. Thank you, Francesca, for being a part of our story!
